What's in a Name: Why "Bluespring Wealth"

In the coming weeks, you'll notice a new name alongside the one you've known. Whitaker-Myers Wealth Managers is becoming part of Bluespring Wealth Partners — and while we've shared the practical story behind that decision (a succession plan, expanded resources, the same team you've always known), several of you have asked a simpler question:

Why "Bluespring"?

It's a fair question. And the more we've lived with the name, the more we've come to believe it describes what we do better than almost any name could. Here's why.

Every Spring Is Fed by Something

A spring is one of nature's quiet miracles. Water rises out of the ground — cold, clear, and constant — seemingly from nowhere. But no spring actually comes from nowhere. Every spring is fed by a source: an aquifer, a hidden reservoir, a body of water beneath the surface that you never see but that determines everything about what flows out. The clarity of the water. The consistency of the flow. Whether the spring runs dry in a drought or keeps pouring out, season after season.

The spring is only ever as good as what feeds it.

The same is true of advice. Every piece of financial advice you will ever receive — from us, from a television personality, from your broke brother at Thanksgiving — is fed by something underneath it. A set of assumptions. A definition of success. A belief about what money is for. Most of the time that source is invisible, unexamined, and unnamed. But it's always there, and it determines everything about what flows out.

So the real question to ask any advisor is not "What do you recommend?" It's "What feeds your spring?"

Our Body of Water

We can answer that question plainly: the body of water that feeds our spring is the Word of God.

Our advice rises out of a biblical worldview — not as a marketing angle, but as a genuine conviction about where wisdom comes from. Scripture has a staggering amount to say about money. There are more than 2,300 verses that deal with money, wealth, and possessions. Jesus spoke about money more than almost any other subject — more than He spoke about heaven and hell combined — and the majority of His parables touch on wealth and stewardship in some way. That's not because God is preoccupied with money. It's because we are, and He knows that how we handle wealth reveals — and shapes — what we treasure.

It's the same reason our firm has served for over a decade as one of Dave Ramsey's SmartVestor Pros. People sometimes assume the Ramsey connection is about a system — the Baby Steps, the debt snowball, "beans and rice, rice and beans." But underneath the system is the same aquifer. Dave has said for thirty years that the Bible isn't just a spiritual book—it's the best financial book ever written — and that personal finance is 80% behavior and only 20% head knowledge. Where does the behavior change come from? From getting your heart aligned with what God says about money. "The borrower is slave to the lender" isn't a Ramsey original — it's Proverbs 22:7. Dave just had the boldness to say it on the radio/podcast every day until a few million people believed it. We drink from the same source he does, which is exactly why the partnership has always fit.

Several of our advisors, including Logan Doup and myself, have completed the Kingdom Advisors curriculum — a rigorous course of study built on exactly this premise. What strikes everyone who goes through that training is the same realization: the Bible isn't silent on wealth. It's saturated with wisdom about it. Diligence and planning (Proverbs 21:5). Debt and freedom (Proverbs 22:7). Generosity and joy (2 Corinthians 9:7). Contentment (1 Timothy 6:6–10). Leaving an inheritance to your children's children (Proverbs 13:22). Counting the cost before you build (Luke 14:28). The Scriptures contain a complete, coherent philosophy of money — one that has outlasted every market cycle, every fad, and every empire since it was written.

That is our aquifer. That is the deep reservoir our advice rises from.

Why It Matters That the Water Is Blue

Here's a detail worth knowing: springwater is blue for one reason — purity. There's nothing suspended in it. No silt, no runoff, nothing clouding the water. You can see all the way to the bottom.

That's the standard a biblical source demands of us. Advice fed by the Word of God has to be clear about whose money this really is (Psalm 24:1 — "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it"), clear about our role as stewards rather than owners, and clear with you about every recommendation we make and why we're making it. It's what Dave means when he says a SmartVestor Pro should have the heart of a teacher, not the heart of a salesman — a teacher wants you to see all the way to the bottom. A salesman needs the water a little cloudy.

Jeremiah paints the picture of the person who trusts in the Lord as "a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream" — unafraid when heat comes, never failing to bear fruit (Jeremiah 17:7–8). That is what we want for every family we serve: not just a portfolio, but roots by a stream that doesn't run dry.

Same Water, Stronger Spring

One of the core values of Whitaker-Myers Wealth Managers has always been Colossians 3:23 — "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." And our founding posture (and another core value) has always been the heart of a teacher — it's the phrase this firm was built on, years before it was a tagline. None of that changes. The advisors you know are still here. Our SmartVestor Pro relationship with Ramsey Solutions is still here — and getting stronger. The convictions that built this firm are still here. What changes is the size of the spring: more advisors, more CFP® professionals, more resources, more capacity to serve you and the generations after you. To borrow one more line from Dave: we've lived like no one else for eleven years — and this partnership is what it looks like to now serve like no one else.

Whitaker-Myers was the name of the people who started this. Bluespring, it turns out, is a name for what we've always actually done — advice rising up, clear and constant, from a source that never runs dry.

Come drink from the spring. And if you've never asked your advisor what feeds theirs — you now know the question.
